Property Managers

Hello everyone,

I was looking to get some insight on property managers. I was wondering when picking a property management company what specifically each person looks for? I know that customer relationships between the property owner and property management is key; however, what are other qualities, or requirements that stick out when this question comes to mind? Does service outweigh price if it is still within reason? How did you find the property management company that services your properties? Did they contact you via mailers, phone, e-mail campaigns, word of mouth, or did you look them up on the internet?

I know there are a ton of questions and not all of them need to be answered, but I just want to spark the thoughts that people have when choosing the right management company.

Thanks,

Peter

Hi, @Peter Mckernan... as an owner of a property management company I can tell you that people value that I also own my own investment properties and have been doing this for a very long time. We're a small-medium sized company and investment properties are "what we do", so that makes people feel comfortable. As someone said in the thread, look in your area for companies who manage your type of property and perhaps own some of their own, then research their fees so you're a fully informed client. There are some great, thought-provoking blogs on this site along the lines of 'to PM or not to PM', so check those out, too. Good luck!
