Best way to find and vet tenants

Getting to rent our first apartment in NYC.  I'm new to BiggerPockets and would appreciate if you could share your experience with finding and vetting new tenants.

    I would put it on craigslist, postlets.com, and vflyer. You will probably want to use a credit/criminal background check service. If you upgrade your account you can access the BP tenant screening tool through Smartmove that we really like. You put in your requirements and it gives you a recommended action. Accept/Decline/Accept with larger deposit/etc.
