Lease issue

Hello all,

So my roommates and I have been living in the same townhomes near a college for two years. We will be moving away from the college into a house on August 1st. However, the place we are currently in wants us to be out July 25th. This will cause us to be without a place for a week. They don't let anyone move into the townhomes until Aug 15th either. My problem is that we paid a full months rent so can they make us leave before the month is over? Should they reimburse part of our rent since it will be unavailable to us?

We did sign a lease agreeing to the move-in and move-out dates. But, when we signed it we asked what they would do for us in those extra days in between leases. They said they make exceptions for people who will be without a place to stay until the end of the month. I recall the lady using the words, "don't worry, we won't make you homeless." And now here we are, soon to be homeless for a week.

So, can they make us leave early? Do they have to give us partial rent back if we can't stay another week?

Thanks!

Trevor
