Rats in garage/laundry room - pest control or patch up holes?

Hey there!

One of our tenants at the 4-plex  in San Diego reported rats in the garage and laundry room. Tenant also stated they chewed up a hole in the wall in the laundry room FROM garage.

Should we call pest control or should we patch up the holes? 

Thanks!

P.S. I am a little shocked, never thought would have to deal this this problem... Never had any rats on any of my properties...
