Potential Tenant May be a Scammer

We just listed a rental home property a few days ago. We always run a credit check before we even consider renting. Before we showed him the house, he informed us that his wallet had been stolen and he now has bad credit.

Question: Have you ever dealt with a tenant who claimed to be a victim of identity theft?

This is straight out iof the deadbeat playbook. Along with "there is a hold on my check", "someone else has the same name as me", and "the dog ate my homework".
