Cash For Key in CA
I have a property listed with a woman, who was the trust beneficiary to her dad's home. She is now looking to sell, but her daughter lives in the home and basically told her mother that in order to get her out, she would need to evict her. Clearly they don't have the best of relationships. She doesn't want to evict her due to her being her daughter(23) and her daughter has a 3yr old. Her daughter has lived in the property for 4 years but signed no agreement and paid no rent or bills.
I offered Cash for Keys as an option and she immediately asked for $60,000 to pay for a year of her rent and new furniture. We negotiated it down to $20,000 and I sent her over the docs to sign...it's been almost a week now and she hasn't even accessed them.
We plan to move forward with the sale either way and I have recommended the mother to seek representation, but where I'm lost it, why would anyone, prefer and eviction over Cash for Keys?
