Section 8 Relationship to Home Value

Bianca Pourmussa
Posted

I am in a Class C neighborhood in the 19104 zip code of Philadelphia. I have a 5bd/2.5ba property that I am looking to rent and am curious about the Section 8 program given that many residents and potential tenants in this neighborhood pay their rent with Section 8 vouchers. I am wondering about how gettin Section 8 certified and being a part of this program will change the value of this home over time (I may plan to sell in 2-3 years). Does it de-value the home to register with Section 8? Any valuable input is greatly appreciated.
