Warning - Snow Melt coming

Winter is here, and where I am at in Chicago, we have had our 3rd Snowiest winter and 6th coldest since they have been keeping records in 1871. Today we may get to FREEZING (32 degrees). We have ice mounds and feet of snow all over the area.

Why am I writing this? Well the forecast for next week calls for 50 degree temps. Some forecasters say 60 might be reachable (doubtful). So, all this snow and ice will be melting. Ice Damming has been happening to some properties, gutters will melt at different times. The curbs on the streets are loaded with ice that will melt last causing a dam for the melted snow to drain properly. The Ground is still frozen hard!

This all adds up to a warning! If you own properties in the Midwest, such as Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, etc, understand flooding will come next week! Large puddles, will form. Water runoffs will be blocked, clogged and over-whelmed. This could and more than likely WILL lead to seepage into basements.

If you have tenants, might want to give them a heads up to be prepared for this. There are only so many things we can do to stop mother nature. Tenants usually are responsive and understanding if you give them warning to move clothing, rugs, etc that may get wet.

Just my piece of advice for the day! Happy Investing!
