Dallas Fort Worth bug preventative action

Team mates -

What, if any, preventative actions does everyone take for bugs, roaches, and other invasive insects for their SFR and apartment buildings? The previous owner of my quad was on a 2x/year treatment plan, however I'm not sure if this is overkill or not. I do know there are some large insects in the state of Texas! :)

Thanks in advance -

Adam R.
