Traveling Nurse Question

Sharon Tabor
Posted

I turned a property into a furnished rental for traveling nurses or visiting professors.  The house is 2.5 miles from 2 hospitals and 30 minutes from 3 other medical facilities.  The first year was good.  Recently, I've had several inquiries for housing but they state they need a week-to-week rental until they get paid. How can you pay weekly if you can't pay for 1 month - or why not pay with a credit card via the booking site?  Two weeks in a hotel is more than the monthly rent. The house is completely renovated, in a quiet, safe neighborhood.

I've had 3 inquiries in the past 3 days.  I sent a lease to each one with an inventory so they are aware of the amenities.  All express interest, but none have returned the lease with a deposit.

This is weird.  Over the last 40 years, I have managed long-term rentals, short-term rentals, and a Bed & Breakfast.  What is going on?

Travel nurse here. I've been on the road for 16 years. If they are asking for a week-to-week, most hospitals will cancel travelers if they have overstaffed. This leaves the travel nurse in an agreement to pay for a place they no longer can occupy. You should charge extra if they want a week-to-week
