Trash bill opened in husbands name without authorization
I'm looking for any info that anyone can provide. We are current tenants that have been living at our location for 10 years. When we first signed our lease, trash service was included in the lease. Several years later, we received a blank - that is not signed or dated by my husband or I- amendment stating that we moving forward be responsible for the trash service bill. We both contacted the trash company requesting the fully executed signed/dated amendment and their response is that they do not have that document and that we need to contact our management company. In contacting the management company, they advised that when we signed our lease that trash service was not included, and would require payment to a 3rd party. Neither the prop mgmnt company or trash company can provide us with the signed/dated amendment and both are standing firmly stating that opening the trash service account in my husband's name is legal and require continual payment to this account that neither my husband or myself opened. I have multiple questions...1st) is it legal for the property management company to open an account in my husbands name without authorization and is it legal to use a blank amendment as sufficient documentation to do so? 2nd) the property management company has threatened us multiple times with eviction, not accepting and returning our rent, until the trash bill was paid in full - as we did not pay for years and were not aware of a bill and it was now over $1500 to bring back to current standing... is this a form of harassment and bullying tactics to ensure payment?
