kitchen cabinet door repair cost out of security deposit
Hello - the tenant broke the kitchen cabinet door (the door came off completely). The cabinet was less than 3yrs old. I initially paid for repair but the repair job was not good at all - this was a lazy Susan cabinet door, the repairman tried to bond the two panels but there's so much gap between the two panels and paint has chipped, they're so ugly. Now I need to replace the door. The repair was $210, the replacement is another $300.
My question is how much can I deduct from the security deposit?
Thanks.

If you send a contractor to repair something, they should be able to determine if it's possible or if replacement is necessary.
Personally, I would charge the Tenant for a portion of the repair, maybe 50%, and then for the full cost of replacement.
