The one in which you have an unfair advantage. Deals can be found in any market, and contrary to what you'll find from a lot of real estate agents, these are not boomtowns. Columbus is not the next Austin. Columbus is only "cool" when compared to other cities in Ohio. It is not attracting massive out of state migration. Ohio is also a state that consistently ranks high in outward migration. That doesn't mean that it is a bad place to invest, though. Loads of folks print money investing there. You just have to know the market and be a competent investor.

Intel, a chip manufacturer who is getting its teeth kicked in and is trading at the same level it was in 2014, making last generation's chip technology, is building a plant in Ohio. Yay! Any major city's chamber of commerce can and will put out similar propaganda. The airport is expanding?!?! A company is moving there?!?! Another company says it is expanding!?!? No way!

Ignore the noise and establish some sort of subject matter expertise on a market. You can make money in any midwestern market. You can also lose money in each of them.
