Who regulates property management companies?
I am desperately looking for help to resolve an issue with A1 property management company located in Grandview Missouri. They managed six rental properties for me. I started with them on July 1 2021. The monthly income for the six properties was approximately $6,000 per month. After being with them a few months I checked my bank records and found no deposits at all had been made to me. I emailed them on November 17 2021 and explained there was over $20,000 in my account on their online portal but there is no way for me to transfer it. They explained that only they could transfer money from the account to my bank, it should be automatic and would try to resolve the situation. On November 29 2021 they sent me only $5,000. On December 8 2021 I emailed them now having over $21,000. On January 12 2022 I emailed them with almost $28,000 in the account. On january 12 and Jan 21, 2022 they sent $5,000 each time. They also sent a transfer for most of what they owed at the end of January or early February. On April 11 2022 I emailed them that there were still no automatic payments and my balance was over $17,000. Emailed them again on June 7 2022 with over $26,000. At the end of June, I terminated my agreement with them. At that time they told me they could not close the account in full until 30 days of no activity. There has been no activity since June 28 2022. On July 12 2022 they sent me $5,000. They have not sent me any payment since. There is currently over $15,000 still owed to me.
I have tried to be as patient as possible. They often would not reply at all to my emails and would always give the same answer no matter which of the three ladies I talked with. “They would let accounting know and it may take time”. This is way beyond incompetent, disorganized or even lazy. I feel they are intentionally choosing not to do the right thing. I have never been rude to them or overbearing. I would be happy to supply all of my email threads to and from them. I truly believe they are enjoying causing me distress and they know they can drag this out as long as they want with no consequences. I truly am confused at how some people go through life using other people with complete disregard and seem to have no conscience. I think this truly is a case of bad ethics.
Who can i file a complaint with? Is there a board that oversees them. It would cost a lot to hire a lawyer and try and sue them. They probably will pay me $5,000 every couple months just to show me they can do what ever they want. I just thought other people should know what kind of company they are.
