HELP-Sent completed rental application on Zillow to new applicant

Alys Brown
Posted

I have a rental posting on Zillow. I just sent a completed rental application including SSN to 3 new applicants. I thought it was a blank application.

1) Can I delete the email or attachment before they read it? If I cancel the entire listing, will it block people from reading emails?

2) What should I do to protect the applicant whose information was shared? I will definitely call her as well as pay for a service, if that's advised.

I am sick about this. Thanks for any quick advice.

Most email providers have a way for you to cancel or recall an email, but it doesn't actually pull it out of the recipient's email. It sends them a notice that you've recalled the message, but the original message is up to them to delete.

I would report it the original applicant. If they are concerned about it, offer to pay for a year of protection.
