Buying Rental Abroad

I am an immigrant from Philippines.  Is buying rental abroad like Philippines (big city - urban) will work out same as rental here in terms of tax strategy.  it seems an easier path to get entry for rental for me since they are cheaper there.  Any opinion on buying rental abroad.  Thanks
