Debt Collections for Owed Rent

Trying to find a good debt collection attorney or company. Trying to find out the time line and percentage of rent recovery.

I have been using a company that has just gotten a judgement a year after I submitted the case to them. 6 months was locating and sending letters to collect before using the courts. It has been 21/2 months since the judgement no progress to date. Any information would help thanks.

Hi Robert,

If you use the search feature here for judgment collection etc. a ton of info will pop up.

A collection company does nothing but ding credit which most debtors care nothing about. The attorneys charge a bunch of money and promise no results. They want to get paid for their time regardless of performance so I will not shell out coin for them to say " Oh I tried to collect but nothing happened but pay me 500 anyways." The attorneys really have no motivation to perform working that way.

If you obtained a judgment almost 2 years ago did you try to file for bank levy or wage garnishment?? You have to motivate the debtor to pay something otherwise the judgment just sits on the credit and does nothing unless the debtor eventually wants to work on clearing credit up which could be 1 year or 15 years.

You need to really talk to a judgment recovery company. They will look over the file and tell you their opinion of if you have a judgment proof debtor or not. Typically they will file on your behalf for bank levy or wage garnishment and then take 50% of whatever is collected and give you the rest.
