How Do Section 8 Voucher Payments Work?

Hi BP,

I understand that with Section 8 Housing, there are vouchers that tenants will have that allow the city to subsidize part of their rent. However, there are limits that correspond to the bedroom size as shown here: http://www.oakha.org/propertyo... What I don't understand is that I see section 8 listings that exceed the payment standard. For instance for 2 bedrooms, the payment standard from the city is $2335. However, I see listings that rent for $2500. How does that work? Am I able to list my unit for higher than the payment standard that is shown?
