timeline for renting first home then moving to another

Hi BP

What are the general best practices with renting out a current home as we transition into our next?

We have about 3 weeks till our closing date so in a perfect world, we would start the tenant finding process and hopefully find a tenant as close as possible to our closing date. Ideally we would get their deposit hold and confirm a move-in date for them. We would also fix up the small stuff before our closing date. Once we get our keys, we move all our stuff out ASAP. On the tenant's move in date, I would then do the walk through, sign some last papers and get their security deposit.

Is there anything I'm missing here?

Is my general timeline realistic?

Thanks!
