Owner Occupancy Prop Tax Exemptions while House Hacking Multiplex

Cal Lund
Posted

Are there ever owner occupancy property tax exemptions/reductions that apply to the entire building when you buy a multiplex and live in one unit and rent out the other units?

If the prop tax reduction is limited to just the owner-occupied unit, do municipalities typically break the reduction out by square footage percentage or some other method?

I am thinking of SC in particular but nation-wide in general. Anybody have any tips for taking advantage of owner occupancy property tax exemptions while house hacking multi-unit properties?
