Number of Mortgage Loans Permitted
I have 7 mortgage loans in my name of which my wife is on 2. I've been told that someone could have up to 10 mortgages as long as:
1) The DTI at time of application is below the lender's threshold.
2) I keep 6 months of reserve requirements for each property.
Does that mean:
a) I can apply for 3 more mortgage loans and my wife 8 so long as we can independently meet the conditions mentioned above
OR
b) Are we limited to 10 mortgages in total because we are married? The premise here being that my mortgage debt is theoretically her debt as well (and vice versa).
Appreciate your feedback.
