Cannot Get Satisfaction of Mortgage

My parents bought a property back in 2000 and paid off the mortgage in full around 2007 (maybe even earlier). We're in the process of selling the building now and I cannot get a Satisfaction of Mortgage because we do not have the documents and the banks do not keep records greater than 7 years after a loan has been paid in full.

What can I do to get the Satisfaction of Mortgage?
