Self Directed Ira's--Too many to choose from

I am looking to move my money out of a typical 401k account and into a self directed account. Can I get some recommendations for which companies to speak with? Good or bad? I remember doing some research on this last year, right after Covid hit, and I saw a lot of negative reviews when people were trying to get there money out of their accounts. But there aren't many reviews I've found for recommendations.
