Startup/loan for new EINunder DBA?

I have a pretty good network from which to draw but I think I’m just more comfortable asking this anonymously.

But I have a new EIN that I started under my DBA (for now until I need an LLC) and I'm wondering how I go about getting a startup, or veterans grant, or loan under my EIN. My broker said an SBA or 7a will be tied to me personally at first, which I take it he's referring to getting a loan under my EIN. But if it's a fresh number, how do I get started with that kind of capitol ($30-50k). He's a lender, I know he is. I'm just really hesitant to ask him because I want to try to do as much as I can, under my own power, before I ask anything more of him. I'm lucky enough for him to be mentoring me through this whole REI startup as it is. So I'm eternally grateful. I just don't want to ask for money unless I absolutely need it.

I apologize if this is kind of a broad question. I was looking for a condo to start my REI venture but I just think I ready to jump into a duplex first if I can find a good deal within driving distance. I want to offset my current full time job income quickly as this job I s starting to piss me off. This is a career change for me. I've been doing this main job for 15 years and I've just hit the ceiling, with as far as I can go, and I need to be on my own now.

Sorry for the rambletron. But I appreciate everything. 🙏🏼
