Options for someone new to the country

Hi All,

I've recently moved to the US and I'm looking to buy a property, preferably a multi-family unit, that I can live in and then rent out the rest. I'm kinda having the headache now of having a limited credit history.

I work for a major corporate and earn >100k. I also have about $50k in savings, but none of this seems to matter - From the reading I have done, it seems there's pretty much nothing I can do in terms of getting traditional financing until I have 2 years of W2's and employment history.

Is this the case, or can I use my work history from abroad ?

It's just really frustrating, as I have very low overheads and could quite easily afford multiple mortgages out of my salary.

Are there any other options, or ways to fast-track the process?

Any advice or tips would be appreciated, thanks.
