Before signing up with a credit repair company, make sure to check if they are a member of NACSO. You can do a simple search at www.nacso.org by either the exact company name or by phone number.

Call the company and specifically as them if they are a member. If they are not, do not do business with them until they are. Membership is vital and proves that companies that are registered with NACSO have complied with all state and federal laws, have adequate customer service options as well as been in business for at least one year and have submitted information about themselves, the company and submitted pictures of the office to ensure compliance with data handling.

These are just some requirements of being a member.

Many companies are not members. This is because they cannot qualify.
