Accounting and tracking of private lending

I'm curious what other private lenders use to track their loans. I have a system set up in Quicken, but I've developed it as I've gone along, and while it works for my needs, I feel there are probably other options that might be simpler or beneficial.

Does anyone have a system... whether in Quicken, on an excel spreadsheet, or otherwise that works well? I don't need anything high-end as I only loan to a few investors at a time.

Thanks in advance!
