Another Reason Memphis is a Top Destination

Did you see last week's Fortune magazine with the list of the Top 100 companies to work for in America?  Here's the link.

Not surprisingly, Google was #1.

But what might surprise most BP readers is that Memphis has 3 companies on the list.

36 - St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

92 - Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare

99 - FedEx

That doesn't surprise us Memphians.  We know we've got a good thing going on and we are gladly sharing it with the rest of the world!

Love how you post to change the preconceived perception about Memphis!

    @Stephen Akindona.

    Aren't you from Houston, TX?

I'm from Dallas and I went to undergraduate and graduate school in Nashville and then worked for EY  (#29 on the Fortune list) in New York City for a few years.  I live in Memphis by choice.

Our city has so many great things going for it right now.  @Dan Butler just toured the new Crosstown project earlier this week and said it was amazing.  My folks were in town from Dallas two weeks ago and said the newly revamped Shelby Farms / Hyde Lake was world class even by Texas standards. (Here are three recent posts by @James Wachob that highlight a few of the big time projects happening here...post #1post #2, and post #3.)

I'm proud to call Memphis home. And, I'm super glad to be actively investing here!

As a native Memphian, I love hearing stories about people moving here and staying by choice.

I am on the Board of a Young Professionals Association here in Memphis and over the last two years I have seen so many yo-pros (young professionals) moving here. Every month, I am introduced to a handful of new memphians. Most are moving here for jobs with St. Jude, Teach for America, Fedex, IP, Grizzlies, U of M, AutoZone, etc.

These folks make ideal tenants, but most of them (from what i can see) are moving into downtown apartments, of which there are plenty.

Just curious where you local Memphis investors feel is the best part of town to invest for multifamily.

I like higher rent properties inside the 240 loop for cash flow and appreciation (Colonial Acres, 38104, 38111). For just cash, still inside the 240 loop with rent range of $750 to $850.

For multifamily I would say Midtown! It is the artistic and eclectic part of town and is highly desirable. Owning multifamily there would be very easy to rent and manage, problem is finding a great deal!

@James Wachob - just to clarify,,,,, is this a 1-day event or 3-Day event?  Your announcement above spans three days, but when following the "click here" link, it only addresses the 18th....

If you could clarify, I would appreciate it!  Hope you are doing well!
