Hey Everybody,

Any preferences on SDIRA custodians? Any better than others for private lending?

If you do that yourself, I'd love to hear your experience!

Paul

@Paul Riley

I would recommend comparing custodial fee schedules and reviews regarding processing times and customer service for various companies. If you don't have checkbook control of the IRA, those are probably the most important factors when choosing a custodian. If you do seek checkbook control via an IRA LLC or a Solo 401k, then the custodian is removed from the day to day transactions and ongoing fees are typically lower. In the case of the Solo 401k, a custodian is not even required. Our clients all have checkbook control and have found this to be the better way to go but this can depend on the asset value of your account. Smaller accounts with fewer transactions often have lower fees overall with a custodian compared to checkbook control.
