How do I find a CPA with real estate investing expertise

My husband and I are thinking about OOS investing and we read that it is good to have a CPA with real estate investment knowledge for tax purposes. Our current CPA is kind of clueless about real estate tax implications (or doesn’t want to deal with it). How do we find someone like this? When I look for CPA’s online, I don’t see anyone advertising real estate specialties. Thanks!

@Karla Simmons

Investing OOS may trigger the requirement to file an additional state tax return. This won't be an issue for most CPA's who specialize in real estate taxation.

Furthermore, there are many unique tax laws for real estate investors - 1031 exchange, QOF, Cost Seg, Bonus depreciation to name a few.

There are a couple of CPA's on the bigger pockets platform that specialize in real estate - feel free to reach out to a couple for a consultation.

Best of luck!
