Contract Threatening to File Lien - Missouri

Stephan Jenkins
Posted

I have all the invoices and copies of every check I wrote him and every penny is accounted for. He still thinks I owe him another $4,000 but refuses to show me an invoice for that money. Now he is going to file a lien on my home. How do I go about disputing this if/once he files? This is in Missouri. Thanks for your help!

You need to speak to a local lawyer.  In most states, clouding someone's title without a legal basis (which is what he is threatening) is a tort which will expose him to damages.  Assuming this is true of MO law, a lawyer letter spelling this out may have the intended effect of getting him to back off.
