Nebraska Investment CPA's & Asset Protection Attornies

Posted

I am looking for any bread crumbs that might lead me to a CPA specializing in investing along with an attorney specializing in asset protection in Nebraska.

My first single family investment property was purchased last year (lived in it for 12 months to meet the requirements of the primary residence clause in my deed). Now I am looking for an attorney to protect the asset along with future assets I gain. Maybe moving property into a trust instead of an LLC. I don't want litigation because I didn't cross my T's or lower case j's.

The CPA who filed my taxes last year (no investment property due to the clause, remember) gave me two red flags. The first came to avoiding capital gains tax on real estate as she stated, "...and you only need to live in it for 1 of 5 years or something like that." That was not assuring as I know that is not true

The second flag came up when I asked her about my tax loss harvesting from my stock market portfolio. She did not know what tax loss harvesting was, so I had to explain it to her.

So, I will gladly create a relationship with someone who is very knowledgeable on investments as a CPA and an attorney who knows how to make me control assets and not own them.

Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
