Real Estate Investing with Traditional & Roth IRAs

John Tham
Posted

Hello All,

I'm new to real estate investing and heard some talks from some friends regarding investing with your traditional IRA and/or Roth IRA accounts. Currently, my IRA's are with Charles Schwab (but my current acct set up does not support real estate investing).

Any suggestions on best self-directed IRA companies to use (Sun West and Equity Trust were 2 companies that have been mentioned)? What things should I consider when evaluating self-directed IRA companies?

From my initial research, it appears that investing with IRA accounts seems more complicated and have a higher risk potential especially for a new investor like myself. Thoughts/feedback/suggestions?

Thank you in advance.

John

I use Quest Trust, they do a good job. Biggest advice is that you get educated on the restrictions put on SDIRAs with respect to UBIT and UDFI. Some investments will trigger it and some will not.
