Asking tenant to leave immediately for emergency repairs

Can I ask a tenant to leave immediately for emergency repairs or if I am unable to make the repairs and want the house left vacant?  If they don't leave can I lock them out. They have not paid rent.

The property is in Detroit Michigan.

i read some states you can ask the tenants to leave and they just don't pay rent and use it for other housing.

1. What does your lease and state/local laws say?

2. If the emergency repairs are not the fault of the tenant you may have to make some arrangements for them until the place is stabilized.

3. If you are using/trying to use the emergency repairs angle as a substitute for an eviction that will probably not work.
