You may owe more tax than you thought.
It is always better to ask before the transaction than after.
Just a friendly reminder to everyone to contact their accountant this time of year to check in with any changes to your situations and if needed run an estimate/projection. Both you and your accountant would prefer if you contacted them throughout the year for occasional questions rather than only come tax season or when a problem arises.
