Backdating a lease for school enrollment

Hello.  I have a new tenant with a signed lease agreement to move in 11/1/19. Our current tenants lease ends 10/31/19. The new tenant dropped off security deposit and signed lease today, 11/16 and asked if I could start the lease this week so he could enroll his kid in school.   What are the legalities in Nj on something like this? He is scheduled to move in, and I want to help out, but do not want to do anything illegal. Thanks
