Property Purchase After Tax Sale

I've had my eye on a property for a few weeks now and called the county for info today. The current owner of the property currently lives more than 1,000 miles away. The last taxes that were paid were for 2016. An LLC won a tax auction for the property but the current owner still has a year to get caught up. Can I contact the owner about my interest in paying the back taxes and buying the property from her or is that prohibited since it's already been to auction for 2017's taxes?
