Living and Investing in a Property with Partners

Myself and two other people are looking into buying a property in a developing area, living in it for 3-5 years, and then selling/renting it. Just looking to see if anyone has purchased a property with others, and then moved into that property with those people. Is it best for us to try and make an LLC for this? Or is it better to purchase the property as Tenants in Common and transferring it later to an LLC if we do rent?
