Can you get an extension to file K1?

I understand that you can request an extension to file the 1065 for your LLC partnership. However, I am confused about the availability of an extension for the k1 filing.

If your partnership is waiting for k1 from some of its investments, how can you expect for it to file its own k1 in time for its members?

@Mike S.

It would be advisable to extend your partnership return, and all returns of members who get K-1s from said partnership if a lower-tier partnership doesn't issue a K-1 by 3/15 to the partnership you have interest in.

It's a pretty common occurrence especially with multi-tiered passthrough entities.  Pressure the lower-tier partnership to get the return done and push up the K-1.  Not too much you or your CPA can do...
