Primary Residential State Tax Exemption
Does anyone know if you need to notify the state tax assessor when converting a primary residence to a rental property? I'm just now noticing that on my tax bill this year both my primary residence and rental (this use to be my primary residence) is showing a 45% primary residential exemption on both properties. According to the county assessor's website (https://propertytax.utah.gov/real/locally-assessed/residential) "The residential exemption is limited to one primary residence per household." What do I need to do so that I don't get hit with a huge bill for back taxes?
