Legal Question about a repair during closing

Hello BP, I bought a SFH in 2017 and during the closing period, there was some water leaking into the garage after a rain. It was brought to the sellers attention who advised he would repair the garage to stop the flooding (he was a contractor). He informed us he fixed the issue by directing the flow of water away from the garage. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t have it inspected after the repair, only before. There continued to be water entering the garage I have since had to have fixed. My question is if I have any recourse from the seller or am I out of luck. My fault for not doing my due diligence and being too trusting, it was a good learning experience for me. But if I have a case for going after the seller for the repair costs, I would like to explore that. Anyone that could help with advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
