Land Trust - LLC as a beneficiary ?

I was under the impression that the beneficiary needs to be an individual, but Bill Bronchick suggests using an LLC as a beneficiary to provide a layer of liability protection.
Maybe it's the state-specific law? (I am in Maryland)
