Investing Business Capital

Hello, I'm new to REIing and want to know what others do with their capital (whether it's savings or cash flow income) while they search for more investment opportunities.  I have been contemplating whether to place capital into a savings account and/or investing into an S&P 500 index fund, until I find the next investment opportunity.  TIA.

@KJ Tottle If this is capital you've earmarked for investing in real estate, I wouldn't drop it into an index fund.  By investing in an index fund, you run the risk of a market downturn and not being able to invest consistent with your plan.  What I do is move money around various bank accounts to get sign-up bonuses.
