Self-Directed IRA & CPA in North Texas (Carrollton, Lewisville)

Hello BP community - I am looking to move a 401k into a Self-Directed IRA to get me started in RE investing. I live in Carrollton, TX and I am looking for recommendations on a local investor-friendly firm to help with the IRA (setup and management). Also looking for any referrals for a local CPA ... I've met a couple local CPAs but it appeared that they were more aligned with the book-keeping aspect of the business and not so much on outlining tax strategies, legal entities, and general investor tax guidance, so I am hoping another investor in the area can pass on a referral.

When it comes to Self-directed IRA the priorities for selecting a service provider should not be the location but the expertise of the company, their ability to provide you with qualified guidance and education and the quality of the client services they offer. There are several members who are active here on BP so you can do some basic search and find few choices. Check out references as well as feedback from other clients who used their services - this will help you make good decision. 

Are you looking for a custodial type of account or wish to have "checkbook control" over your IRA? This would also make a difference on which direction you should focus your search.
