Land contract and retirement income

We've made an offer to purchase a property on land contract, but the seller is afraid that the income they'll receive from the land contract payments will affect their retirement income. 

I don't think it will (as it's not employment-related income), but I'm interested in experienced advice.

Property is in Minnesota.
