Taxes for newly licensed real estate agent
I got my real estate license in 2016. There were expenses involved such as classes, exam and license fees, association memberships, etc... however I did not earn any money as an agent in 2016. As such, I did not think to include these expenses on my 2016 return, but now I'm questioning that decision.
Should I go back and amend my return to include this as business expenses or is there a better option like rolling it as startup expenses for 2017?
