Multi State Investing

I live in the Metro East part of St. Louis which is in Illinois. I'd like to invest in residential properties both in Illinois and Missouri. Could anyone speak to any legal, tax, business entity, or other issues that may come up from investing in properties across multiple states?

I'd like to use the same entity, but I'd also be willing to setup separate entities for each state if that's the best course of action.

Thanks
