How would I do my taxes

My husband was accepted into graduate school in another town here in Idaho and our house didn't sell before we had to move.  We were able to get our house under contract with the contingency that the buyer's house would sell before they bought our house and that they would rent our house until that time.  The buyers have rented the house for 5 months in 2016 and are still renting it now. How will this affect my taxes? Would this be considered a rental property?
