Sole Proprietorship, LLC, or S Corp?

I have been tossing over going the LLC and S Corp route for my business venture into CREI. I'm basically looking to shield myself and protect what I have. Looking to purchase a quadplex for a house hack as well as an apartment complex for more the commercial side of things. What have you all found to be a good way to go for your business? And why? This will come to fruition in probably Q1 of 2017 so I'm looking into this now. Thank you!
