Company pension plan is terminated. Want to invest in RE

Hello all, My company has terminated our pension plan and is offering several options, one of which is cash pay out. We are leaning towards this cash pay out, pay the taxes and 10% penalty and use the money as down payments for two properties. We are not looking for retirement income at this time. Instead, we plan on reinvesting in more RE. Are there members out there that have gone through this process? Thoughts? Thanks and have a great weekend, Steven
